BIOGRAPHY
Canadian-American soprano Hannah Friesen has captivated audiences with her "bright, clear sound and alluring stage presence," as praised by Opera News. A versatile and dynamic performer, she was the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Audience Choice Award Winner (Iowa District), Camille Coloratura Awards 1st Place Winner, Giulio Gari Competition Honorable Mention, Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition Winner, and is a Career Bridges Grant Recipient.
Hannah received her Master Music in Opera from the Manhattan School of Music and has performed with renowned companies such as Opera Delaware, Des Moines Metro Opera, Janiec Opera Company, L'Accademia Nazionale Di Belcanto Italiano, Mozart Opera Studio Vienna and the College Light Opera Company of Cape Cod. She has also performed with New York City based companies such as The Opera Next Door and the Athena Music Foundation.
Her diverse roles include Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Gilda (Rigoletto), Servilia (La Clemenza Di Tito), Frasquita (Carmen), Iris (Semele), Harriet (Emmiline), Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Clorinde (Cendrillon), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Barbarina & Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro). In New York City, she performs concerts with various local companies and continues to hone her craft under Michael Paul’s tutelage, while serving as Soprano section leader at Secondary Presbyterian Church.
