Camille Coloratura Awards Competition
The Camille Coloratura Awards is a competition celebrating the art of the coloratura repertoire. This past October, Hannah traveled to Towson University in Maryland where she had the honor of competing in an exciting day of music-making that culminated in a winners' concert. She proudly took home the 1st place prize in the Virtual Division.

The competition showcases Manhattan School of Music student finalists who exhibit outstanding talent and strong potential for careers in opera. The eight finalists of 2019, were selected through a preliminary audition; all participants in the preliminary audition were nominated by their teachers at MSM.

The distinguished judges for this year’s Competition were Denyce Graves, Mezzo Soprano, Peter Russell, General Director of Vocal Arts in Washington DC, Diane Zola, Assistant General Manager, Artistic of the Metropolitan Opera.
2019 first-place winner was soprano Hyeree Shin, a Professional Studies degree candidate at the School. Ms. Shin received prize money towards her professional development. Second place was presented to soprano Kelly Singer, a second-year Master’s degree candidate at MSM. Third place was given to soprano Hannah Friesen, a second-year Master’s degree candidate at MSM.
